Businesses are under increasing pressure to reduce their environmental impact and find more sustainable solutions. If you’re a business seeking to minimise your impact on the environment, you may be eligible for Eco 4 grants. These grants can assist in covering the expenses of energy upgrades or environmentally-friendly initiatives, like transitioning to renewable energy sources. Additionally, they offer guidance and support to aid businesses in creating sustainable practices.

The grants are designed to encourage businesses to invest in green solutions and reduce their energy consumption. This helps to reduce their carbon footprint and create a more sustainable future.

For example, corporations could apply for grants to invest in renewable energy sources such as solar panels or energy-efficient lighting systems.

Eco 4 grants are a great way to help businesses take the first steps towards creating a more sustainable future. In this blog, we’ll discuss Eco 4 grants, the requirements for eligibility, and how companies can use them to invest in green solutions with the aim to reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint.

What is ECO4?

ECO 4 replaced the previous Energy Company Obligation ECO3 scheme and will run until March 2026. It will allow more people to qualify thanks to LA Flex, which allows local authorities and obligated energy suppliers to tailor the criteria based on the age and health of residents, the number of households in a property and so on.

ECO4 is the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation scheme, which is the government-backed energy efficiency grant system. The money for the grants is provided by obligated energy suppliers (such as British Gas, SSE, EDF and Npower) and goes towards paying for improvements in people’s homes to make them more efficient.

The aim of the ECO4 scheme is to reduce fuel poverty by helping homes upgrade their heating systems and insulation. It’s important to note that you don’t have to purchase your energy from an obligated supplier to qualify for ECO4. Both homeowners and private tenants can apply, but the criteria is slightly different. Homeowners who are in receipt of certain benefits can qualify, as do those who use pre-payment meters or have health conditions that are made worse by living in a cold home.

Unlike the previous ECO3 version, ECO4 also gives councils more flexibility with their eligibility rules by introducing ‘LA Flex’, which allows them to extend who they can help. This includes expanding eligibility beyond those who claim benefits to take in a range of factors, including age, the condition of your home and whether you have children.

Who is eligible for ECO4?

ECO4 is the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation Scheme and will run until 2026. This final version of the ECO programme makes UK homes more energy efficient and tackles fuel poverty. It takes a““fabric-firs”” approach, meaning that improving the fabric of your home is prioritised before installing new heating systems.

There are a few key differences between ECO3 and ECO4. For example, stricter rules exist on who can qualify for boiler grants. This phase has a cap of 5,000 boilers that can be installed, and there are extra requirements around the types of boilers that can be fitted.

This scheme is designed to help people in England, Wales and Scotland that are living in fuel poverty. This means that households on certain benefits can get assistance with installing insulation, heating upgrades and more. This includes people that claim Universal Credit, but also those thatdon’tt (providing they meet income rules). This scheme can be used to help with the cost of installing energy efficiency measures in a range of properties, from flats to park homes.

How do I apply for ECO4?

The best way to see if you qualify for the ECO4 scheme is to apply through our quick online form. One of our certified contractors will then call you to discuss your energy efficiency requirements and arrange a home visit. This visit will help them assess your property and determine whetheryou’lll need to pay for any installation costs or receive a grant for the work. ECO4 will support both homeowner-occupied properties and privately-rented homes, as long as the person receiving income-related benefits is eligible. Disabled people and households thatdon’tt claim benefits can also be supported under a new‘‘ECO4 LAFlex’’ category.

It’s important to note that it’s not the Government that pays for ECO4.

The cost is met by the energy suppliers known as the Big Six (British Gas, Scottish Power, EDF, SSE, NPower and E.ON). By doing this, they’re actually killing two birds with one stone – helping those in need out of fuel poverty while simultaneously reducing the UK’s carbon footprint.

What are the benefits of ECO4?

ECO4 is the fourth, and likely final phase of the government’s Energy Company Obligation scheme. The scheme has provided funding for the installation of energy efficiency improvements in homes across the UK, helping to tackle fuel poverty and increase household energy savings.

Unlike its predecessor, ECO3, which was limited to households claiming certain benefits, the new scheme will enable more families to access funding for insulation and boiler replacements. In particular, those that receive disability benefits or Child Benefits will be able to apply for a grant, as well as those who meet an income test.

The scheme also takes a ‘‘fabric first’’ approach, meaning that more households will qualify for loft and cavity wall insulation. The government also plans to upgrade a minimum number of properties in bands E, F and G to help ensure that the most energy-inefficient homes are not forgotten or overlooked. Ultimately, this will help to cut emissions and reduce the impact of high energy bills.

More and more people are turning to air source heat pumps for their ability to help lower carbon emissions and cut down on energy costs. These pumps work by transferring heat from the outdoor air into your home or office, and can even be used to generate hot water and provide heating.
