February 20-21, 2014 Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) holds the VI International scientific & practical conference under the topic of “Innovative development problems in oil and gas industry”, organized by KBTU together with KBTU SPE Student Chapter.

The goals of this event are:

  • To promote and expand knowledge in the field of oil and gas,
  • To improve the cooperation between the companies, scientists, and universities of different countries,
  • To discuss trending issues, the main trends and prospects of different researches,
  • To exchange of experience and professional development of members of society.

The participation of such native and foreign companies as KazMunaiGas, Tengizchevroil, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, NCOC, NCPOC, PSN KAZSTROY, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Chevron, Maersk Oil,  Total, Shell, ExxonMobil, CNPC, BG Kazakhstan, Rompetrol Group, Baker Hughes, BP are expected.

Also it is planned to hold the round table discussion on the interaction of education, science and industry, master classes given by leading specialists of partner companies, workshops and intellectual team and individual games. The conference will be devided into sections:

The European Student Energy Summit is one of five regional summits taking place simultaneously on the 19th and 20th of June 2014. Asia Pacific SPE Student Chapter Conference 2013 (APSC’13) is third edition international conference which will be held in the beautiful campus of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). Founded by SPE Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Student Chapter (SPE-UTM-SC) in 2011, the first edition of this conference was being held in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and was named as Southeast Asia SPE Student Chapter Conference 2011 (SASC’11). Due to the overwhelming participation from more than 10 universities across Asia Pacific, including Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Australia, the delegates from participating universities were determined to make this an annual event with the condition: It will rotate among different universities.

The second edition is held in China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Petroleum, and the conference was renamed as Asia Pacific SPE Student Chapter Conference. At that time more Chinese Universities have participated in the conference.

This year, SPE-UTP-SC successfully bided to be the host of third edition of Asia Pacific SPE Student Chapter Conference. Sponsored by Halliburton, Baker Hughes and Shell Malaysia, SPE-UTP-SC successfully invited 15 universities from 6 countries to take part in this prestigious conference, including Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and nonetheless, Malaysia.

In APSC’13, delegates will not only be exposed to the beneficial career and technical talk hosted by sponsoring companies, they will also take part in the conference with the title: ‘Future Collaborations between Asia Pacific SPE Student Chapter’. To ensure the delegates to have an unforgettable memory in this event, SPE-UTP-SC have also prepared a Cultural Night Dinner which features cultural performance in Malaysia, and also a trip to Gua Tempurung, a beautiful natural cave in Perak for all delegates.

18th edition of EuroPower Conference- report

18th edition of EuroPower Conference- report

From the 20th to 21st November the 18th edition of EuroPower Conference took place in Warsaw. For 18 years, the Conference has been the place where people from the energy sector have a chance to meet and discuss. Among invited guests, there are chief executive officers, members of boards and representatives of companies from energy sector. Those guests represent many important Polish companies like: PGNiG, Orlen, GazSystem, PGE, Dalkia Warsaw and many more. This is also the place where authorities from this industry can exchange their knowledge and experience with people who work in the government administration.

The EuroPower Conference was divided into discussion panels. Each one took up relevant topics in terms of energy sector. Speakers received questions from moderator, exchanged opinions with other participants of discussion and also answered questions from the audience. 

The subject of each discussion panel insisted on the energy future of Poland. Participants discussed significant role of coal in energy production. They looked for new solutions related with limitation of fossil fuels contribution. Participants also talked about new technologies which are launched in energy market gradually. They considered possible development of innovations in Poland and discussed potential advantages and disadvantages of launching new products.

The EuroPower Conference was a great opportunity to meet current trends in energy market. It was also an occasion to find out about projects connected with the industry. The Conference helped in better understanding of the Polish energy market and let all participants to come to know about new improvements.
