The first North American Student Energy Summit (NASES) will take place on June 19th and 20th 2014 in parallel with four other Regional Student Energy Summits in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. The Regional Summits are extensions of the prestigious International Student Energy Summit that take place every other year. Student Energy has already reached over 28,000 students around the world through these events and initiatives.

The inaugural NASES will be held in New York City as a partnership with universities in the New York City area including institutes such as Columbia University and New York University. These universities have very international and diverse student bodies that create the unique foundation upon which the summit will be based.

NASES is aiming to tackle regional issues with keynote addresses and panel discussions from current energy leaders, and to engage students in interactive sessions to come up with creative solutions to our current energy dilemmas. Raising awareness and inspiring these students will ignite their interest in becoming a driving force in the transition to the sustainable energy future.

New York City is a leader in energy innovation and new development. It is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, and as such, has taken aggressive steps to implement an integrated approach to improve energy sector efficiency and sustainability. New York is not alone in making a fundamental transition in the energy sector. While national policies in the United States and Canada may highlight controversial hydro-fracking and oil pipelines systems, individual states and cities have taken things into their own hands to ensure resiliency and energy security.
